SPACE4GEO at the 1st Pact for Skills Forum: Unlocking the skills potential across Europe

Between 21 and 22 March 2024, Milva Carbonaro, SPACE4GEO Coordinator and CEO of GISIG Association, will participate in the first edition Pact for Skills Forum, organised by the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs, and Inclusion (DG EMPL) of the European Commission, taking place in Brussels, BE. The Forum will be organised under the auspices of the Pact for Skills, a flagship action of the European Skills Agenda, aiming to support public and private organisations with upskilling and reskilling to support their green and digital transitions.

The Forum will be an opportunity for SPACE4GEO to join other Pact stakeholders and hear about their experiences of upskilling and reskilling as well as their ideas and recommendations for future activities, and to share its own experience and ideas to further increase the impact of SPACE4GEO and the overall impact of the Pact for Skills. The event will serve as a dynamic platform to network with the EU skills leaders and explore how the pack is shaping Europe’s learning land, which will allow SPACE4GEO to be at the forefront of new developments in the area of upskilling and reskilling in Europe.

High-level plenaries and interactive thematic workshops are planned, through which the participants will be able to hear and share challenges, solutions, and ways forward. Plenaries, for instance, will include discussions on the Pact’s achievements so far, exchange of ideas on how to make the most of the Pact for Skills community to upskill and reskill Europe, and a plenary on sectoral experiences of implementing skills initiatives for the green transition, while thematic workshops will tackle the experience of good practices in the area of skills development in Europe.

Further, during World Café sessions it will be possible to learn about upskilling and reskilling best practices of other attendees, while participating in informal open spaces will allow to showcase the Alliance’s activities and good practices. This will represent a unique opportunity for working towards SPACE4GEO’s commitment to expands its activities and network.

The Pact for Skills Forum will therefore strengthen SPACE4GEO’s commitment to skills development and contribute to achieving its objective of promoting the upskilling and reskilling of the workforce, while also attracting new talent to the downstream space and geoinformation sector.
